What to Expect
Your axe-throwing 'axe-perience' at Sweet Axe Auckland typically lasts for 90 minutes. Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by your instructor, who will get you checked in and ask you to sign a waiver. The session kicks off with a comprehensive safety briefing, where you'll learn the core principles of safely handling and throwing an axe.
Once briefed, it's time to step into your private lane. Your Axe-pert will demonstrate various throwing techniques, from one-handed to two-handed throws, helping you find the style that works best for you.
After some practice to get your eye in, the real fun begins. Your instructor will lead your group through a series of fun and competitive games and mini-tournaments, culminating in the crowning of an axe-throwing champion.
It's an incredibly satisfying feeling when the axe sinks into the wooden target with a solid 'thunk'.

As an indoor activity, Sweet Axe Throwing is a fantastic option year-round, regardless of what the Auckland weather is doing. It's perfect for escaping the rain or the midday sun.
Evening and weekend sessions are the most popular and tend to book out well in advance, so be sure to plan ahead if you're looking at a peak time.
For a potentially quieter experience with more one-on-one instruction time, consider booking a session on a Wednesday or Thursday afternoon.
This can be an ideal for smaller groups or first-timers who want to master the basics without the weekend buzz.
